History & Background of
Graymatics originally came to life when founder and CEO, Abhijit Shanbhag took note of the immense amount of video content that was now available online on sites such as YouTube. Shanbhag noticed that the current search capabilities were very weak, and based on the captions accompanying the videos rather than the content of the videos. With an incredible amount of CCTV&39’s being installed all over the world, Shanbhag realised he could
use this technology more effectively here by converting the passive devices of CCTV into compelling solutions to improve the operational ability of different markets, safety and security.
Abhijit Shanbhag first launched Graymatics in California with initial financing from the Citrix Startup Accelerator, as well as Singapore’s National Research Centre. They entered the market with the intention of building a scalable platform for deep image, video and audio analytics to challenge a market that, at the time, was primarily focused on image and text analytics.Shortly after launching, Graymatics began to see an increase in demand in specific areas including smartphone applications, surveillance, and social media insights.
